Previously CFO of Flybe from 2014 to 2017. Has held a number of other senior financial positions including Global Head of Financial Planning and Analysis at SABMiller and CFO of INEOS Olefins & Polymers Europe. Philip spent 16 years at Unilever in a range of finance roles, working in a number of countries including Benelux and Switzerland. Philip has Masters degrees in Business Economics (Rotterdam) and Law (Heerlen).
Global Business Director, Building & Industrial
Clark is a global sales, marketing & business development executive with more than 25 years of experience. He developed expertise in global business intelligence, strategic planning, and commercial leadership during tenures with divisions of United States Steel, BF Goodrich, Qannex and Performance Fibers (formerly Honeywell/Allied Signal). In addition, he was a management investor and served on the leadership team of TruSeal Technologies a specialty chemical business created following the acquisition of Tremco Inc.’s Window Markets division by Kirtland Capital Partners.
Clark joined Low & Bonar in 2013 and serves as the Global Business Director for the Building and Industrial Division and the North American Sales and Marketing Director. In his dual role, Clark leads the strategic planning process and technical B2B sales and marketing efforts for a diverse group of industrial, technical textile, and high performance building product industries.
A graduate of Duke University, Clark also holds a Masters of Business Administration in Financial Management from Southeastern University.
Global Business Director, Civil Engineering
Neil was appointed Global Business Director for Civil Engineering in July 2015.
Neil joined Low & Bonar from The Dow Chemical Company where he enjoyed a 25 year career working across a range of senior commercial and general management roles in different Dow businesses. These include Dow’s Polyurethanes, Building Solutions, and New Business Development businesses. He is a truly global citizen and has lived and worked across Europe, Middle East, Asia and the USA.
Most recently, Neil was Commercial Director working with The Sadara Chemical Company, a joint venture between Dow Chemical and Saudi Aramco. Responsible for leading Dow’s interests in the negotiation to establish third party joint ventures, Neil was also accountable for delivery of Dow’s obligations as marketer for the JV. In his previous role as General Manager for Dow Building Solutions - Europe, Neil was responsible for leading and managing a pan-European extruded polystyrene insulation business with 11 manufacturing sites and employing over 450 people.
An experienced business and commercial leader, he brings to Low & Bonar a proven track record of success.
Global Business Director, Coated Technical Textiles
Johann joined Low & Bonar in November 2017 from Rollepaal, a Dutch capital goods manufacturer, where he was Chief Commercial Officer focusing on the plastic pipe industry.
He has extensive international commercial leadership experience in B2B markets having worked in Fokker Aviation and the railway industry before moving to the global fibre business with both Diolen Industrial Fibers (formerly Acordis/Akzo Nobel Fibers) and Performance Fibers (Luxemburg).
He is a graduate of University of Hertfordshire (MBA, 2002) and INSEAD.
Global Business Director, Interior and Transportation and Group Director of Strategy, Sales and Marketing
A former Officer in the Corps of Royal Engineers and a Civil Engineering graduate from Birmingham University, Gareth has 25 years’ experience in industrial B2B2C market-leading organisations across a number of business sectors including Civil Engineering, Building and Construction, Packaging and Fuel Retail. Gareth has previously worked for Stanton and Stavley, BPB, French industrial giant Saint Gobain, Rexam and Danaher and has lived and worked for several periods in Asia and Europe. Gareth is a career commercial specialist and leads Low & Bonar's Strategy, Marketing and Innovation and is an Executive Director for the Asian Operations.
In 2015 Gareth was appointed Global Business Director for Interiors and Transport.
Group Director, Special Projects
Jan is a graduate from the Nyenrode Business University and has significant International experience, worked in Denmark, Germany, USA and South America. Before joining Low & Bonar, he worked for SHV, an international trading company, AkzoNobel and was the General Manager of Colbond when it was under the tenure of AkzoNobel and later ACORDIS.
Jan joined Low & Bonar in 2006 as Managing Director of the Colbond business and in 2009 also became Managing Director of the Yarns business. In 2012, following the merger of the Colbond and Fabrics businesses, Jan became the Managing Director of the Mehler business as well as continuing to lead the Yarns business.
Early 2016 Jan was appointed Global Business Director for Sports & Leisure. He is now Group Director of Special Projects.
Group Director Integrated Supply Chain
Previously at Unilever for 20 years in a number of key manufacturing and supply chain roles, eventually becoming VP for Global Sales and Operations Planning. Helped found Integrated Business Planning, a consultancy specialising in improving business supply chains. A strong track record in managing global businesses, complex supply chains and integrated business planning in FMCG and fuels. Has a degree in Natural Sciences from the University of Cambridge.
Group Director of Human Resources
Francis Bird was appointed Group Director of HR in June 2015.
Francis joined Low & Bonar from Unilever PLC where he was Vice President HR, Global R&D and Foods Category. Unilever R&D comprises 6,000 scientists, product developers and other functions, based in North America, China, India and Europe. The Foods Category is responsible for some of the world’s most iconic brands, including Knorr, Flora and Maille. Prior to Unilever, he held senior HR leadership roles with Motorola, Foster Wheeler and the Royal Mail.
An international HR Director, with a wide industry sector background, Francis has acted as a strategic HR business partner within senior leadership teams, creating commercially sound HR solutions, building organizational and employee capability.
Areas of HR expertise include International Employee Relations, Organizational Development, Compensation & Benefits, Talent Management, M&A, Employee Communications & Engagement and Business Coaching.
As an experienced HR leader, Francis brings deep HR expertise and a strong track record of success to the Low & Bonar Group.
Group General Counsel
Matthew Joy is Group General Counsel, overseeing the Group’s Legal Affairs Function. Matthew has 25 years experience as a commercial lawyer, working in private practice, for major financial institutions and in commerce and industry.
