Our 3D entangled filament structures can be shaped to act as a core material, eg for growth media or soil mixtures in low weight green roof applications. When these cores are filled with foam structures, they work highly effectively as 3D spacers – for example, shaped into complex forms such as in car dashboards. In such applications, the 3D entangled filament structures have the dual role of providing a scaffold during manufacturing of the foamed material and acting as a reinforcement spacer in the final application.

Xeroflor specializes in pre-vegetated mat systems that are lightweight, low maintenance and economical. We use 3D entangled filament structures as drainage to divert excess water from the roof effectively and as a vegetation carrier to cultivate flexible, pre-vegetated mats that can be easily transported, unrolled and fitted – especially useful when landscape designs involving complicated shapes and contours. These thin lightweight mats are ideal for retrofits, or on older buildings unable to take heavy loads. They are equally at home for urban infrastructure projects such as greening around roadside and tramways, or as vertical green wall systems.
