No working week is the same for me and that’s how I like it! A typical week is a mix of internal and external activities. I often spend time with my sales team discussing opportunities, deciding how to approach them, offering coaching and guidance. I also spend time with colleagues in production and planning, as the whole team will be involved in delivering to customers. On a recent land reclamation project in the Far East, it was the combination of purchasing, planning and production talents that gave us the edge over the competition, producing a new product and winning a multi-million pound contract. |
At least half my time is spent out in the field visiting customers. It’s still important to keep in touch so I’m generally found in my hotel room after dinner, catching up on my my e-mails – after a long day, that’s the tiring bit! But we work in a very competitive industry and you need to keep one step ahead.
