I have really expanded my horizons since joining Low & Bonar. I’ve had the opportunity to gain some formal sales experience – in fact I volunteered to take over responsibility for dealing with our partners in the US and Japan. Japan was fascinating. I took a course in Japanese business etiquette before I went that even covered where you should sit in a restaurant! The Japanese work ethic and attention to detail was impressive and I liked their team orientated approach – you must always praise the team, not the individual. |
Our partners in the US have a much more informal style and welcomed you as a part of their organisation. Working with the leading organisations in our field has been enlightening and I’ve learnt a lot from the experience.
Learning from others has been particularly valuable for me in building my career and I would advise anyone else to do the same. In Low & Bonar, there is always someone with the appropriate experience to offer help and advice when you need it and I never hesitate to ask for it.
