The Chairman of Low & Bonar PLC, Duncan Clegg, will make the following statement at today’s Annual General Meeting:
"The last few months have been an important period for Low & Bonar PLC with significant senior management changes. The new team has developed an immediate strategy which is beginning to bear fruit. Consistent with this, we have made our first acquisition for some years, strengthening our flooring business, and are pleased to be able to report that this is performing well.
Actions taken over the last six months have focussed on initiatives to grow our market share and to reduce our cost base. The market remains extremely demanding and raw material prices have escalated rapidly in the second quarter. We have responded to these movements by implementing price increases where possible. Notwithstanding these testing conditions I am encouraged by the progress being made; trading remains in line with expectations."
