Low & Bonar PLC, the specialist materials and plastics manufacturer, announced today the appointment of Chris Davies, 53, to the Board as a Non-Executive Director with effect from 1 November, 2002.
Chris Davies’ earlier career was spent with Dowty, Armstrong and GKN in the hydraulic and automotive areas. After four years as Chief Executive of Hampson Industries plc, during which time he successfully restructured the Group, he retired from the company in July 2000 to take up a number of Non-Executive positions. He was a non-executive director of Hepworth plc until its recent sale and is Non-Executive Chairman of three private equity companies.
Dr Rex Clark has indicated his wish to stand down from the Board. He will, therefore, retire at the end of the AGM in 2003. The Board wishes to thank Dr Clark for his very considerable contribution over the past five years.
Commenting on the appointment, Duncan Clegg, Chairman of Low & Bonar PLC said:

In line with paragraph 16.4 of the Listing Rules, there are no further details relating to Mr Davies requiring disclosure under paragraphs 6.F.2(b) to (g).
